The Village Playground
The Village Playground is managed and maintained by the Silchester Playground Association, a registered charity which is run by a group of volunteers on behalf of the Council. The Playground Association raises funds to provide new equipment and keep the playground in good condition. It also coordinates a group of around 40 volunteers who check the playground daily for litter or damage to ensure that it remains safe and in good condition.
We have been very fortunate this year to benefit from a generous donation from Tesco's #bagsofhelp scheme which enabled us to replace the train which has been gradually deteriorating over the years.
However there are always repair and maintenance jobs needing to be done and the cost of upkeep on our woodland theme playground is quite high!
The next big piece of equipment that will need replacing is the climbing frame in an estimated 3 years time so some major fundraising will be needed before that is possible.
The playground committee is always looking for more help so if you are interested in joining us or if you have any ideas for perhaps a 'one-off' fundraising event, please let us know.
