Silchester Boundary Walk 2026

boundary walk low res for web 2026

We have changed the date of the Boundary Walk to be more in line with original purpose of 'Beating the Bounds of the village' on Rogation Sunday after the crops have been sown.

So this year the walk will take place on Sunday 17th May at 11.30am meeting at the Village Hall carpark.

Bring a packed lunch. Shorts are not advisable as some of the fields we pass through have a few nettles!

The walk is mostly flat and is approximately 8 miles long following the parish boundaries as far as possible and is mostly off road through lovely heath and woodland taking in Silchester Common, down the side of Pamber Forest then through Bridles Copse, across through Bramley Frith then alongside the ancient 'water meadows and fish ponds' down the ancient Saxon track of Odd Lane across the railway and then back through the Roman Town to the village.

Well behaved dogs are welcome but may have to be on leads for short stretches when there is livestock around.
