Boundary Walk
The annual Silchester Boundary Walk took place on Sunday 13th October. Twenty-two walkers and six dogs set off from the village hall after a blessing from Rev Karen.
The boundary walk is based on an old tradition whereby, once a year, the villages set off to ‘beat the bounds’ and establish the borders of their village.
We were happy to once again have good weather for the walk. After all the rain from the past few weeks, the paths were quite muddy but passable.
There were a few bogs to navigate and a ditch to scramble through but the eight miles passed quite quickly and we enjoyed our lunch stop at Brickledons Farm
where Claire Macklin opened up her lovely house for us for our picnic.
Steve and Irene Spillane drove our back up car and carried the wine to our lunch stop and Pete Hughes was out with his camera at every stopping point
so we should have a few good photos. You can view them on silchesterlife.org
It was good to see some new faces on the walk and welcome back some of our regular walkers.
It’s a great way to catch up with friends, make some new ones and enjoy the lovely walking around our village.
