First Aid Course - Thursday 10th June 2021
The village First Aid course was held in the Club Room on 10th June and was attended by 11 people from various organisations in the village.
This was the second course that has been run by the SA with the aim of maintaining knowledge of first aid for as many people in the village as we can
It was, as always, worthwhile to update our knowledge as to the most recent advise concerning emergency first aid.
The course was designed to train people to be able to react to an emergency and to give life-saving first aid to a casualty until the emergency services arrive.
This advice changes from time to time and, even in the space of three years, there are some big differences in the advice about CPR and also with respect to serious burns.
Though covid restrictions prevented us from practising EAR on the dummies we did get a chance to have hands on practice with CPR and using a defibrillator.
I would advise anyone who has the opportunity to attend this 'Emergency First Aid' course to do so. You may save a life.
